ZENTANGLE

Zentangle is contagious and and anyone can catch the bug!

We're very happy to finally be able to offer Zentangle classes in New Zealand with a certified Zentangle teacher - the only one in the country.

Zentangle is magic. It's like dancing with a pen. The repeating patterns are designed to trigger the brain's calming response. Yes, it looks a lot like doodling, and yes, you can find a lot of information on the internet. Both doodling and googling will give you pretty artwork, but coming to a real Zentangle class will give you the other side; the deliberate brain work, deep relaxation, and the way it quietens brain chatter.

Zentangle reinforces important life skills:

Your first stop should be the official website: www.Zentangle.com - the newsletters and galleries are a great source of patterns, and you can read about how Zentangle started. Most of the items available in the shop, are also available from us. We have a teacher discount, and ship kits over in bulk, to save you the expense of shipping individually from the USA.

Zentangle Essentials

Our Zentangle Essentials class is the first class, which is a pre-requisite for all other Zentangle classes.

Sat 6th June, 3-5.30pm OR Sun 7th June, 9.30am - noon. Cost $40

Zentangle Essentials for Educators

Children are naturally drawn to Zentangle, and this special version of our Zentangle Essentials class includes techniques and practical tips on how to integrate Zentangle into classroom practice, as a tool for calm and focus.

Zentangle classroom projects for kids

This is a second-tier class (you need to have taken a Zentangle Essentials class first).
We've put together some clever hands-on art projects which use Zentangle in an appealing way for students.
You will cover three projects:

Take-away photocopiable templates included.
Sunday 7th June, 1pm - 3pm, Wellington. $40

Beyond the Basics #1: More Zen: White on black and Zendala tiles

This is a second-tier class (you need to have taken a Zentangle Essentials class first).
Bring your mini kit from the Essentials class with you, and we'll add: three kinds of black tiles, white Zendala tiles, white Gelly roll pen and a shading soapstone
White on black tiles are a variation of the classic Zentangle tile, done in reverse, and using white highlighting.
Zendala tiles are circular mandala artworks with repeating sections. Mandalas are used in many different cultures and art forms for their meditative quality.
Sunday 7th June, 4-6pm, Wellington $40

Beyond the Basics #2: Renaissance tiles and Monograms

This is a second-tier class (you need to have taken a Zentangle Essentials class first).
Bring your mini kit from the Essentials class with you, and we'll add: two kinds of tan Renaissance tiles, Sepia Micron pen, white shading charcoal pencil, Bijou tiles, gold leaf and embossing powders.
Renaissance tiles use the chiaroscuro technique developed during the Renaissance. Neutral toned paper is the starting point, then white is used to work towards the light, or create highlights, and black is used to work towards the dark, creating shading.
Monograms have the feel of old illuminated manuscript letters. These tiny exquisite artworks make perfect cards or gifts for special people.
Sunday 7th June, 7 - 9pm, Wellington $40
